LOCAL VISIONS 2008 Photography Exhibition
A vibrant new photography exhibition, Local Visions, will be on display at the Riverview Room at the Ellsworth Library in Ellsworth from February 2 to 29, 2007. This show is significantly larger than when previously held, and features 55 pieces of work!
Local Visions features a selection of new work by Ellsworth Adult Education Digital Photography students: Denise Barbieri, Joe Bubel, Christina Chester, Patricia Dority, Barbara Flaherty, Brenda Fletcher, Tamm Fragas, Kimberly Huebsch, Murray Joy, Angela Sargent, Cheri Wallace, and Michael Waterman. The exhibition showcases the visions of these local photographers as they worked both near and far from home. From their backyards to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge to Monhegan Island to Bangor Raceway to Angel Falls to the hills of Scotland, their local visions sustain them on their photographic journeys.
Students made the photographs during a ten-week course, Digital Photography: Creating a Project, taught by award-winning photographer Jennifer Smith-Mayo of Blue Hill. "I'm very proud of my students and their dedication to their projects," says Smith-Mayo. "The skill level of everyone in the class has grown by leaps and bounds and I'm very excited to present this show."
